Edith Fern George, 73 of Columbia passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at Columbia Healthcare. Services will be held at 11 am, Friday, October 17, 2014 at Parker Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery. Edith was born November 2, 1940 in Columbia to Tony S. and Edith J. Tremaine Sapp. She married Fred George on December 29, 1956 and he survives. Edith lived her entire life in Columbia and babysat from her home for many years. Over those years she babysat over 300 children. She attended First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include: her husband, Fred of Columbia; two sons, William L. George of Windsor, MO and Randall D. George of Hallsville, MO; a daughter, Debbie A. Hollinger of Lawson, MO; a brother, James M. Sapp of Fulton, MO; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister. Memorials may be given to Hope Givers Working Ranch, 66 White Wildlife Road, Silex, MO 63377.
