Allan Lewis Bramkamp graduated from University of Cincinnati with a BA in 1896, received his MD with "honorable mention" from the Medical College of Ohio (University of Cincinnati) 2 May 1899, interned at Cincinnati Hospital 1899-1900 and was house surgeon there, followed by post graduate training in Berlin and Vienna 1900-1901. He was a captain in the US Army Medical Corps during WW I, moved to Banning in 1919, was medical director of Banning Hospital and for 19 days treated Morris Lehrer (qv) during Morris' last illness, 1929. Banning had a dry desert and mountain edge climate which was believed to benefit those suffering from lung ailments. At least five Banning sanitoria cared for patients with lung disease. Dr. Bramkamp was a vice president of the Southern California Medical Association, physician for the Morongo Indian Reservation.
