David Allen Barber, 73, of Lincoln, passed away September 26, 2014 at his home. David was born July 12, 1941 in Edgerton, Wis. to Russell & Lillian (Babcock) Barber. David grew up in Kenesaw, Neb. and graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1959.

In 1960 David married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Woodman, whom he shared his life with for 54 years. They spent their honeymoon moving to Chicago, Ill. where David attended DeVry Institute. Upon graduation, they returned to Lincoln where David started work for 10/11. After a few short years, David left to become an engineer at the University of Nebraska for ETV and remained there for 39 years. David's retirement years were spent enjoying his two grandsons, whom he taught how to play the classic games like cribbage, chess and Tripoly.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lillian; son, Danny; and grandson, Ryan Coffey. David is survived by his wife, daughter, two grandsons, sisters, brothers, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Memorial Services will be Wednesday October 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Mark's United Methodist Church (84th and Pioneers Blvd.). Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park. No public viewing or visitation. Memorials can be made to the family for future designation. Please visit www.lincolnfh.com to share memories.
