Paul L. Gauthier

Paul L. Gauthier, 89, of Millbury, formerly of 49 Fenwood Rd., Worcester, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010, surrounded by his family.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife and partner, Eileen F. (Doucimo) Gauthier, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage July 19th; his son, Reggie Gauthier and his wife Beverley; a son-in-law, whom he considered a son, Richard Patrone all of Millbury; two grandsons: Stephen Griff, Greg Gauthier and his wife Patricia; two great grandsons: Vinny and Danny Gauthier; a brother, Roy E. Gauthier of Gardner; a sister, Myrtle Walters of Rogers, Arkansas; many nieces, nephews and friends. A daughter, Gloria Patrone passed away in 1999.

Paul was born in Templeton, a son of the late Leon and Filomena (Groleau) Gauthier. He graduated from Gardner High School and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II to serve his country. Upon returning, Paul lived in Worcester, before moving to Millbury 11 years ago.

Paul was a 40-year licensed plumber and former Vice President of Local 4, Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union. Paul took part in the construction and plumbing supervision of many area buildings, including several Holy Cross College structures before retiring in 1982. After retirement, Paul worked 10 years with his son and grandson at Gauthier Plumbing.

Paul was an active member, festival and bingo volunteer of Our Lady of Loreto Church. A member of the Grafton Hill Post 323 in Worcester, and the International Brotherhood of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 4.

Paul's funeral will be held Thursday, August 19th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Wednesday, August 18th from 4 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
