Rae G. Smith Aug. 22, 1927 - Oct. 3, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Rae G. Smith, 87, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 3:43 pm at the Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care. Rae was born in South Bend, IN in 1927 to the late Eli and Sarah Goloubow. She married Marvin Smith in 1947, who passed away in 1981. Rae was a loving spouse and mother, and a lifelong member of Sinai Synagogue. She held several previous jobs, the last as an employee of the University of Notre Dame, before retiring in August 2009. Surviving are her children: Terry M. Smith, MD of Burlington, Massachusetts and Nancy E. Newbold, RN of Overland Park, Kansas. Rae is also remembered by her three grandchildren, Amy, Colin, and David, and by her sister-in-law, Sally Goloubow. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 7th at the McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel, 435 S. Ironwood at Jefferson, Rabbi Michael Friedland officiating. Burial will follow at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery in Mishawaka, Indiana.
