Ferdinand Schulte, aged 82, formerly a coal operator and the oldest resident of Bridgeville, died in his home there yesterday afternoon. He was born in Germany and came to this country when a boy. During the voyage, his father died and was buried at sea. For a number of years, Mr. Schulte worked on tow boats on the Ohio river and later engaged extensively in the coal business. For several years he resided at New Orleans and later Duquesne, Pa. He had been a resident of Bridgeville for the past 37 years. He is survived by the following children: John, Anthony J., Peter, and Nicholas Schulte; Mrs. C. Sullivan, Mrs. Anna Volker, and Mrs. Mary Todd of McKeesport and Miss Helen Schulte at home. Thirty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Gravesite Details
The daughter described in his obituary as "Mary Todd" was his daughter Margaret Schulte Todd. His daughter Mary Schulte married Frank Strauss and died in 1895.
