RI Argus - Monday - February 25, 1929
Mrs. Maurice S. Rains, 1513 Fortieth street, Rock Island, died at 5:40 o'clock Sunday morning at her home after an illness of less than a week's duration, caused by pneumonia. Mrs. Rains was taken ill on Wednesday of last week, first complaining of a bad cold.
A resident of this city during the last 13 years, Mrs. Rains spent the early portion of her life in Taylorville, Ill., where she was born Nov. 9, 1892. Her maiden name was Miss Josephine Von Achen. On June 17, 1921, she was married to Maurice Sedley Rains of Rock Island, the ceremony taking place in Kansas City, Mo. She was a member of the First Methodist church of Taylorville.
Surviving besides the widower are the mother, Mrs. Eliza Von Achen of Rock Island; two sisters, Miss Van Von Achen of Rock Island and Mrs. R. S. Ulrich of Davenport, and two brothers, Harry Von Achen of Taylorville and Louis Von Achen of Coldwater, Kan.
The body was removed to the Knox mortuary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Knox chapel, 413 Twentieth street, Rock Island, with interment in Memorial Park cemetery. Rev. E.B. Davies will officiate.
