Funeral Services for Mr. Jackie Hardin, 81, of Athens are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 13, 2014 at First Methodist Church of Murchison with Rev. Brooks Taylor officiating.

Mr. Hardin passed away on October 9, 2014 in Athens, Texas.

Jackie Tom Hardin was born November 3, 1932 in Murchison, Texas the son of Audrey P Hardin and Ruby Lee Saxon Hardin.

Mr. Hardin was a lifelong citizen of Henderson County and was a civil engineer for the State of Texas for 33 years. He served from 1951-1955 in the United States Navy and was stationed at various naval bases during his four year enlistment. His basic training was completed in San Diego, Ca. Some of his longer stations include naval operations at Whidbey Island, WA and Subic Bay, Philippines. Jackie was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Murchison. He enjoyed traveling with Lanelle, football, tennis and also enjoyed cooking. Jackie served as the President of the quarterback club for Henderson County Junior College.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his devoted wife Lanelle Hardin; sons Gary Hardin and Claire Seifie of Dallas, Texas, Ricky Hardin and wife Tammy of Salt Lake City, Utah, grandchildren; Jake Hardin and Nick Hardin.
