Cpl. Antoine McKinzie of Indianapolis was a 2000 graduate of Pike High School, and was on his second tour of duty in Iraq. After high school. An aspiring artist with a talent for drawing and design, he earned an associate's degree in computer-aided drafting at ITT Technical Institute. He was a big New England Patriots fan. In his short life, Antoine will always be remembered for his gregarious spirit, fun loving nature and can-do attitude. His friends and relatives called him the "Gentle Giant", reflecting his kindness and impressive stature. He is survived by his mother, Zyvonne A. Adams, and stepfather, Dwight Adams, father, Jay Dee Canada, brother William Adams and sister Olivia Adams, three grandmothers, Lois Payne; Patricia K. Adams; and Lovie Mae Canada; a grandfather, John McKinzie. He was killed when his Humvee came under enemy small arms fire during combat operations in Baghdad at age 25.
