Valanta St. Clair-Brooks, 93, of 121 Cottonwood Drive died Saturday, Sept. 28, 1996, at her residence.

Born March 20, 1903, in Edwards Station to Thomas and Clarinda J. Binegar Stear, she married Luther S. St. Clair on Feb. 1, 1926. He died Dec. 23, 1970. She later married James J. Brooks on Jan. 3, 1976. He died Oct. 16, 1989. Three daughters, two sisters and four brothers also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons, George T. Stear of Mossville, Gerald E. St. Clair of Peoria and Robert L. St. Clair of St. Bernard, La.; five daughters, Mrs. John (Helen) Wierschem of Lampe, Mo., Mrs. Donald (Patsy) Farden of Morton, Mrs. James (Lois) Wright and Mrs. Richard (Mary) Lee, both of Peoria, and Mrs. Sol (Beverly) Snyder of Tremont; one stepson, William C. Brooks of Germantown Hills; and three stepdaughters, Pauline L. Loeffler of Spring Bay, Mildred F. Leverton of Rushville and Mrs. Frank (Maureen) Roberts of Morton.

She was a housekeeper for Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago and for Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
