Ernest "Locke" Ramsey (age 77) of Burnsville NC, gained his "new body" on Friday, October 15th, 2021 after a long illness.
Locke was a son of the late Niram and Zora Phillips Ramsey. He was married to the love of his life Sheila Pate Ramsey for 52 years. Locke and Sheila shared a love that was truly an inspiration to all who knew them. Throughout the years God blessed them with a daughter, Andrea, her husband Tim Allen, two grandsons Isaac and Payton; who were truly the center of his world. He also enjoyed his special companions Bentley and Princess.
Locke loved the Lord and wanted to make sure others knew about Jesus "his Saviour". He was a lifelong member of Bee Log Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee.
He is also survived by brothers Howard Ramsey (Mary) of London, KY, Jack Ramsey (Wanda) of Burnsville; sisters Erma Lee Rash of Greenville SC, Hazel Marlowe (Ken) of Athens GA and Alice Watts of Burnsville NC; sister-in-law Maxine Moore of Burnsville NC and brother-in-law Jim Pate of Marion NC.
Locke always had a smile, joke or inspiring word for all he met. God blessed him with a career in car sales, which spanned 42 years. During that time, he made many special friendships. He never let his physical limitations deter him from living his best life. He often said, "Your attitude will determine your altitude". He was a true inspiration to all that knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 23rd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Aaron Autrey will conduct the service. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Blue Ridge at 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
