Cynthia S. "Cindy" Caldwell, 62, of Connersville, passed away Friday morning, March 27, 2009 at I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis where she had been a patient for three weeks.
She was born January 18, 1947 in Connersville, one of five children of James Joseph and Ella Lenora Tanksley Purcell.
A lifelong resident of Connersville, she was a 1965 graduate of CHS.
She had been employed at Taylor Drug Store and also at Hooks Drugs. For thirty-two years, she was employed at Visteon, retiring in 2004.
On April 10, 1981, she was married in Jellico, TN to Charles "Chuck" Caldwell of Connersville. Mr. Caldwell survives.
She enjoyed spending time with family, especially kids and grandkids, traveling, gardening and bird watching.
Survivors besides her husband include two sons: Aaron Poe and wife, Kandy, of Connersville and Mike Poe and wife, Audra, of Lebanon, IN; two stepsons: Charles Caldwell, Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Pearl, MS and William Paul Caldwell of Connersville; six grandchildren: Hallie, Brennon, Tyler, Emily, Mercedes and Ty; a brother, Daniel Purcell and wife, Myrna, of Connersville; two sisters: Gloria Isham and husband, Terry, of Ormand Beach, FL and Jennefer Sparks and husband, Stanley, of Richmond, IN; a number of nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Griffy and Heidi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Nilah Stevens, and a nephew, Scott Isham.
Memorial services will be conducted by Pastor Scott Mauch, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon at 6 p.m. Wednesday April 1, 2009 in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Interment will be in Dale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Humane Society.
