JoAnn (Jacobs) Schulte was born on August 12, 1936, at Page, ND, the daughter of Frank and Leona (Rutherford) Japel. She was educated in Tower City where she graduated from high school. JoAnn then attended Wahpeton School of Science and graduated with her nursing degree in 1956. She married Ron Jacobs on June 27, 1957, in Oriska, ND. They moved to Bismarck in 1961, where JoAnn worked at St. Alexius Hospital in obstetrics until 1979. JoAnn then worked at Mid Dakota Clinic for Dr. Robert Jennings until her retirement in 1994. JoAnn loved people and it showed in her dedication and commitment to her patients. She brought a smile and a caring personality with her wherever she went. She enjoyed needlepoint, cards, camping and fishing. JoAnn loved to laugh and make people laugh. She was a strong advocate of Catholic education and had the satisfaction of seeing her children and grandchildren receive a Catholic education. JoAnn was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the St. Mary's and University of Mary Booster Clubs, the Eagle's Auxiliary, and a member of the Red Hatters. She was also a volunteer at the St. Alexius Medical Center recently.
