Marvin D. Elchert, 66, of North Robinson, died Tuesday afternoon in the Bucyrus Community Hospital Emergency Room, where he was taken after collapsing at home.
He was born in Bacom to Lawrence A. and Mildred (Feasel) Elchert. His parents preceded him in death along with brothers David, Donald, and Arvine and sister, Linda Haudshiel.
On July 16, 1966, he married Madeline C. Ulmer who survives along with two sons, Paul of Nevada and Randall of North Robinson; a daughter, Tammy (Shane) Snyder of Bloomville; two grandchildren, Emily Elchert and Randall Wesley Elchert; a brother, Lawrence A. Elchert Jr. of Burgoon; and a sister, Margaret Hoerig of Tiffin.
He attended Tiffin Calvert School and spent most of his life driving semis for various trucking companies. He was a Member of Good Hope Lutheran Church where he had been an usher, also the Whetstone Township Volunteer Fire Department, Bucyrus Moose Lodge 669, VFW Post 1078 and the Teamsters Union.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Pastor Mike Wiechers officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Whetstone Volunteer Fire Department or Good Hope Lutheran Church.
