BURLINGTON - Mr. Cecil J. Hayes, 81, of 2130 Roger St., Burlington, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 3:25 p.m.

A native of Danville, Va., he was the husband for 60 years to Irene Prather Hayes, who survives, and the son of Earl Hayes and Gladys Smith Hayes, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army/Airborne. He was a retired truck driver and warehouse manager with Coley Moving and Storage. He was a member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church for 36 years.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include his daughter, Patsy Hayes Wyrick and husband Mack of Swepsonville; his son, Roger Dale Hayes Sr. and wife Darlene of Burlington; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Lee Hayes Sr. and a brother, Elmer Lee Hayes.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Alamance Memorial Park.
