Funeral Services for Warren P. Johnston, 85, of Spearfish, and formerly of the rural Carter County were held Friday, March 17, 2006, at Trails End Ranch in Ekalaka, Mont., with Pastor Bob Anderson and Pastor Tim Wyrick officiating. Burial was at the Johnston Ranch Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, March 17, 2006, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., at Trails End Ranch.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker and Ekalaka, Mont.
Warren went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 13, 2006, at David M. Dorsett Health Care Center in Spearfish.
He was born to William and Annie (Hoffman) Johnston, Oct.12, 1920, on the family ranch near Ridgway, Mont. Warren was the fifth of six children. He lived in that home until November of 2003, when he and Mava moved to Spearfish. On June 5, 1948, Warren and Mava Walter were united in marriage. To this union, four children were born.
He was a charter member of the Hope Baptist Church of Ridgway. Warren was also involved in the Box Elder Community Club, the Carter County Sheep and Cattle Growers, a Gumbo Gophers 4-H Leader, the Montana Wool Growers, the Montana Veterans' Association, and was a long time member of the board for Trails End Ranch of Ekalaka, Mont.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Trails End Ranch Scholarship Program.
Warren is survived by his wife, Mava; two sons, Myron (Val) Johnston, Hammond and Bryce Johnston, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two daughters, Merrilyn (Barry) Jones, of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Debra Sherman, of Florence, Ore.; eight grandchildren; one sister, Reva Fruit, of Broadus, Mont.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
