Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late William Benson and Mamie Medlin Gilstrap, Mrs. James retired from Mayfair Mills-Glenwood Division, and was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and the GA's.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry James (Pat), and Floyd James (Martha) all of Easley; a daughter, Brenda James Bagwell of Easley; a brother, Bill Gilstrap of Easley; four sisters, Willie Mae Gilstrap of Pickens, Lucille Dillard and Nellie Sue Lingerfelt, both of Easley, and Annie Ruth Barrett of Greenville; four grandchildren, Annette Dickard (Scott), Michelle Lockaby (Sam), Chad James (Ginger), and Jeremy James (Lisa); six great-grandchildren, Brent (Kristen) and Colby Dickard, Ethan Orr, Hayley, Austin, and Londyn James; and one great-great-grandchild, Aubrey Brewer. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. James was predeceased by a brother, Grady Gilstrap, and one sister, Irene Alexander.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
