Charles Zerfing, 50, of Philadelphia who was a native of Landisburg died in a Philadelphia hospital Tuesday, following a stroke sustained about a year ago.

He was a son of the late Daniel and Rebecca (Billman) Zerfing and was a teacher in the public schools for some time. He later practiced law in York from which place he went to Philadelphia.

He was unmarried but is survived by a sister and two brothers, namely, Miss Ida Zerfing, A.O. Zerfing and Daniel Zerfing all of Duncannon to which place the body will be taken and funeral services held Thursday at 2 p.m. with interment in the Mt. Zion cemetery in Spring Township at 3:30 p.m. (lot 83-4).

Charles was Daniel and Rebecca's 8th child. Charles was a brilliant boy with a marvelous speaking voice. He taught in the Duncannon High School and county schools before going to the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. He set up practice in York, PA and became known as a fine young lawyer.
Charles moved to Philadelphia where he died, after a stroke, at Byberry Charity Hospital.
