'Angel of Auschwitz'

Perl was born in what was Maramarossziget, Hungary in 1907. She was the daughter of Rabbi Maurice Perl. Some of her other family members were Moshe Perl, Fanny Perl, David Perl, Cilla Perl, Rose Perl, and Helen Perl. She was the mother of Gabriella Krauss Blattman.

Perl was an Auschwitz survivor (Number 25404).

As an obstetrician & gynecologist, she cared for thousands of women in Auschwitz without any medical supplies or equipment. She saved the lives of more than one thousand pregnant women by performing abortions before the women were discovered. They would have been burned alive or tortured to death along with their fetuses by Dr. Mengale. This was permissible under the Jewish faith because it was done to save the life of the mother.

Later, she delivered about 3,000 babies to do her part to re-populate the Jewish race after Holocaust.
