Elizabeth H. Culbertson, 76, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly a resident of Franklin Towers, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 1994, in the Virginia Beach Hospital. Born June 18, 1917, in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Frank D. and Clara N. Rodgers.
She graduated from Rocky Grove High School.
She first married Archie R. Whitcomb who died, then married Clyde Culbertson. He also preceded her in death.
She served as secretary to the pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church and the United Methodist Church on Liberty Street in Franklin, did private duty in nursing in later years, was a member and deaconess of the Oil City Church of Nazarene, and a 30-year member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. She volunteered for the Venango County Area Agency on Aging.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Kathryn) Britt of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Harry E. Rodgers and John A. Rodgers of Franklin; three sisters, Josephine L. Zagar, Martha C. "Teen" Rossman and Ruth L. Koziara of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Laura L. Britt and Susan E. Johnston, both of Virginia Beach. Besides her parents and husbands, two sisters, Mabel K. Moury and C. Ann Mechling; and three brothers, Claude S. Rodgers, Kenneth C. Rodgers and Wesley D. Rodgers, died previously.
Committal service will be held at the chapel of Franklin Cemetery with the Rev. John Sass, retired pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, officiating. Arrangements were made by Jonathon H. Hutchinson Funeral Home, Oil City.
