Nola Jean Bays, 65, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully at home after a long illness in the arms of her loved ones on October 19, 2010.

She was born in Winifred, on December 14, 1944, the youngest daughter of Lee A. and Nadine Cooper Pack.

In 1963, she and Donald G. Bays were married, a union that produced four children. She and Don had recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.

After her youngest had gone off to collage, she went to work Dr. Thompson Pearcy Sr. as his office manager, but retired as he as he closed his office to help raise her youngest granddaughters. She was very active in their education as a homeroom mother and volunteer at their school.

She is survived by her husband, Donald, of Charleston; their children Donna of Mobile, Ala., Kathy of Fresno, Calif., Vikki of Charleston and Donald II of Washington, D.C.; her grandchildren, Jake and Julia Supino of Fresno, Calif., and Casey and Carlie of Charleston. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings, Wanda Dawson of Sissonville, Gary Pack of Marmet and Bernard Pack of Chesapeake; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

The family wishes to thank all of the extended family members and friends who have been so thoughtful and supportive and the caregivers at CAMC Memorial Hospital for their kindness to Mrs. Bays during the past few months.

A tribute to the life of Mrs. Nola Jean Bays will be noon Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Harding Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Harold Burton Hall officiating.

Burial will follow in Graceland Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
