Kyle Jon Clark, 16, of Wahoo, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, was killed in a car accident in Wahoo, Neb., Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, and went home to be with God.
Kyle was born Sept. 8, 1990, in Sioux City, the son of Larry and Christi (Nagel) Clark. He was a sophomore at Wahoo High School and was active in school and legion baseball.
Kyle enjoyed fishing, boating, jet-skiing and his friends and family. He received numerous academic and baseball awards and was a member of the student council, Civil Air Patrol and the Teen Advisory Board at Wahoo Public Library. Kyle had always dreamed of becoming a baseball player and a jet pilot. His favorite course of study was science, and he wanted to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado to pursue studies in aerospace engineering.
Kyle played high school baseball, and was a member of the high school quiz bowl and student council. He had also recently enrolled to take Independent Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature and Composition from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Kyle also enjoyed collecting model airplanes and was well-known for being a hard worker. He helped with cleanup when the tornado went through Halem, Neb. He had been chosen one of the Baseball All Stars for the Strike Zone in Omaha, Neb.
Survivors include his parents, Larry and Christi; a sister, Allyson; brothers, Matt and David, all of Wahoo, and formerly of Le Mars; his grandparents, Bob and Karen Clark of Le Mars, and Bill and Donna Nagel of Sioux City; great-grandparents, Vern and Ruth Heisler of Sioux City; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Roy Clark, Ernest and Irene Nagel, Glen and Norma Hilton, and George and Rae Henke; an uncle, Vernon DeYoung; an aunt and uncle, Lisa and Leon Clark; and a cousin, Dawn Gray.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Wahoo. Burial was at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City. There was a life tribute service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at the Wahoo High School Gym.
A memorial fund has been set up at First National Bank of Wahoo, Neb.
