Phyllis Huddleston, formerly of Otterville, passed way November 3, 2008 at Good Shepard Nursing home in Versailles.
She was born November 22, 1933 in the Baxter community, a daughter of Robert Vest Hirst and Fern L. McGill. She attended grade school in Cotton, MO and graduated High School in Tipton in 1951.
On December 25, 1954 she married Harold Dale Huddleston at the First Baptist Church in Tipton, MO. They resided in Jefferson City. Upon returning to the Tipton area she worked at Biltwill Manufacturing and Stride Rite. She then bought the Syracuse Grocery Store, and ran it for several years. She went to work at Fasco Ind. in 1984 and retired from there in April of 1994.
Phyllis enjoyed working in her garden, especially with flowers. She was an avid collector of antiques, and enjoyed going to auctions. She looked forward to family gatherings and cooking. She also loved her cats.
Surviving are a son Dale Huddleston of Sedalia, MO; three daughters Glenda Ryan of Summersville, SC, Annette Meyer of Otterville, MO and Laura McDonald of Syracuse, MO; three brothers Robert V. Hirst, Jr. and Paul Hirst of Tipton, MO, Ronnie Hirst of Otterville, MO and one sister Carol Smothers of Lake of the Ozarks; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Vest Hirst, her husband Harold Huddleston and one son Kenny Huddleston.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton with Rev. Carol Cross officiating. Pallbearers will be Curt Wirths, Robbie Hirst, Scottie Hirst, Quenton Hirst, Chance Mertgen and Lucus Huddleston. Burial will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Tipton.
