Hillsboro - John Emmett Murphy, 65, retired local 1064 laborer, died at 7:31 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 1985, at Hillsboro Hospital.

He was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Hillsboro to Thomas and Elizabeth (Vonderlack) Murphy, and spent all his life here. He was twice married, to Velma Pulliam and the Mary Ellen Fletcher, and both marriages ended in divorce,

He is survived by four sons and a daughter, Kathy Hasler of Carpentersville; Tom and Mike Murphy of Hillsboro; Tim, with the U. S. Marines at Arlington, Va.; and Josh of Jacksonville. There are two grandchildren.

He also leaves two brothers and two sisters, Pat Murphy of Peoria; Leo Murphy, Mrs. Herschel (Regina) Fath and Margaret Baugher, all of Hillsboro. A brother, Thomas, and a sister, Kathleen Hoffmeyer, have died.

Mr. Murphy was a member of St. Agnes Catholic church, Hillsboro, a World War II veteran with the U.S. Army, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Rev. Fr. Rathgeb will conduct the funeral at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bass Funeral Home, and burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today, Monday.
