She was born June 17, 1921 in Yorkville, IN one of seven children of John and Helen Fox Fuchs. She grew up in the Dover area and was a 1939 graduate of Guilford High School.
On December 14, 1940, she was married in Greensburg, IN to Walter G. Huber and they had lived in Liberty, IN for six years, coming to Connersville for residence in 1946.
Employed at Maplewood School for over 20 years, she was an aid who worked with handicapped students. She was one of the founders of the Adult Basic Education Program and assisted many people in obtaining their GED. She also helped many foreign students in attaining their U.S. citizenship. Along with her husband, Walter, they opened their home to both family members and to the community, inspired many lives, and was instrumental in making Connersville a better place to live.
She was a member of St. Gabriel Church and St. Ann Altar Society. She loved spending time with family, cooking, caring for her African Violets, camping, sewing, and playing cards.
Survivors include two children: James J. Huber, Sr. And wife, Joanna, and Sharon A. Quyle and husband, Robert, all of Connersville; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Brady and husband, Brian, of Nashville, IN, Timothy "Butch" Huber and wife, Susan, of Leopold, IN, Patty Frensemeier and husband, David, of Nashville, IN, James Huber, Jr. And wife, Sande, of Connersville, Angie Lee and husband, Bret, of Connersville, Jenny Cronenwett and husband, Jerry, of Fishers, IN, and Crystal Duncil and husband, Steve, of Connersville; 22 great grandchildren; four brothers: Paul Fuchs and wife, Eva, of Metamora, IN, Stanley Fuchs, Jim Fuchs and wife, Janet, and Frank Fuchs and wife, Jane, all of Dover, IN; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Walter G. Huber, who died January 14, 2006, a son, Walter G. Huber, Jr., a daughter, Helen Rose Huber, a sister, Mary Slade, and a brother, Raymond Fuchs.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007 in St. Gabriel Church and burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, where a scriptural service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
