Even though Elizabeth and Alexander Beall lived and died in Prince George's County and are buried on the Beall Farm, their farm was realigned into Frederick County, MD in 1748. Both Elizabeth and Alexander Beall were born in Fifeshire, Scotland.
Elizabeth's father, Enoch Coombes also immigrated to America and patented land which he called 'Largoe' "which lyeth on the north side of the southwest branch of the Patuxent River". The possession of this land moved to Alexander Beall. Enoch Coombes mentions wife "Barbary" in a document, but it is unclear if she is the mother of his children. Most of the confusion about Enoch Coombes/Combs is because of the lack of any clear definition between Enoch, Sr and Enoch, Jr.

06 Jun 1675 Calvert County, Maryland, Elizabeth Coomes is named as the goddaughter in the will of Joane Lawson Read Tyler Beall (widow of both Capt. George Read and Robert Tyler and wife of John Beall of Calvert county, Maryland.)

While FMM Beall's book has information that has been found to be incorrect, Beall's work should be used as a starting point to do further reasearch on the Bealls of America, by finding original documents. In the late 1600s, many widows needed to remarry to survive. A prime example is Joane Lawson Reade Tyler Beall.
