Anita Lorraine Cox, 56, of Shreveport, Louisiana and formerly of Abilene, passed away Monday October 6, 2014 in Bossier City, LA.
Anita was born to Betty L. HIllman and Clyde Cox on December 24, 1957, in Carlsbad, NM.
Anita graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1975 where she enjoyed performing with the Carlsbad choir. In June of 1981, Anita graduated from Stenograph Institute of Texas in Abilene and recieved her Certified Shorthand Diploma of Honarable Graduation in August 1981. Anita worked in 326th district court for several years at the Abilene courthouse before moving to work in courts in San Antonio and federal court in Dallas. In 1999, Anita moved to Shreveport, LA, where she accepted a job at Accurate Reporting and worked there for many years before going to the Parish of Caddo Courthouse this year. Anita was a member of the National Shorthand Reporters Association, The Supreme Court of the State of Texas and the Louisiana Court Reporters Association. Anita enjoyed all aspects of her job and was an established, seasoned and well known for initiating professionalism and leadership in the courts. Anita had no biological children of her own but raised several "furry" friends in her life that were her own. Most beloved included Miss Kitty and Jake. Besides the love of cats, Anita was the number one fan of Neil Diamond seeing any concert within a 500 mile vicinity. Anita also loved concerts, the beach, going to the casino, holidays and spending time with her family. Anita will be remembered as giving more than ever receiving. She is undoubtably one of God's angels and a guardian to her living loved ones on earth. Anita was very close with her sisters, nephews, nieces, brother in law and Connor who loved his "Ne Ne".
Anita was preceded in death by her parents and her step mother, Ida Cox.
She is survived by her sisters, Staci Castro of Shreveport, LA, and children Kevin Castro and Arthur and Ashley Castro and son Connor, also of Shreveport, Tina Giles of Abilene, TX, and children Dan and Brandi Fialek of Baltimore, Maryland, John "Bo" and Charlene Otis of Lake Ft Phantom and children Caleb Otis and Kayla Otis and one brother, Ronnie Cox of Fort Worth. Anita was loved by many and has numerous friends that will miss her dearly.
