He was the son of Thomas and Maria (Morrissey) Aughney. He was brought up in Jersey City NJ. He was ordained as a Catholic priest 8 June 1919 in Buffalo NY. He spent his entire career in the Diocese of Omaha NE. He was made Monsignor on 20 Feb 1952, and retired 6/12/1975.
