Vernon E. Straley, 89, of Oregon, died Monday, October 6, 2014, in Oregon Living and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 26, 1925, in Paw Paw, IL, he was the son of Allen and Mattie (Stauffer) Straley. Married to Marianne Schwab March 10, 1947, in the Lighthouse United Methodist Church parsonage, near Oregon; she died February 10, 2014. Vernon and Marianne owned and operated Straley Spring in Rockford for 20 years before returning to Oregon to farm in 1978.

Survived by his daughter, Jo Ann (Charles) Reynolds of Oregon; granddaughter, Monica (Mike) Rasmussen of Dixon; great- grandchildren, Mattie, Eric and Emily; brothers, Earl Straley of Oregon and Dale (Alta) Straley of Winnebago; and sister, Joyce Seyler of Winnebago.

Also preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Wilda and Lois.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 10, in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, with Pastor Jack M. Briggs, Chaplain of Unity Hospice, officiating.

Burial at 2 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park. No visitation
