WAS ONE OF THE PIONEERS.
N. N. Miller Fought for His Country in the Days of His Youth. N. N. Miller, a pioneer resident of Plymouth county, died at the hospital in Cherokee on Wednesday from dilatation of the heart. For many years he was a sufferer from cerebral trouble. The remains were brought to Le Mars yesterday and the funeral will be held on Saturday morning from the residence of his son-on-law, H. C. Anderson, residing near Carnes and the interment will be made in the Le Mars cemetery. Mr. Miller was a native of Denmark and was eighty-one years old. When a young man he fought in the Danish army and was a participant in the wars of 1848 and 1864. Shortly after his marriage in the old country to Miss Christina Nelson in 1865 he emigrated to America and lived near Prairie du Chien and Madison, Wis. He came to Le Mars in the early seventies and homesteaded in Marion township, where he farmed until incapacitated by illness.
He is well remembered by the older settlers in the east part of the county.
Mr. Miller's wife died four years ago, in 190-9. He leaves four daughters and a son, who are Nelson Miller, of this city, Mrs. H. C. Anderson, of Carnes, Mrs. H. F. Bergner, residing near Remsen, Miss Anna Miller, of CedarAlso Falls, and Mrs. N. Hendricksen, of Kildare, Oklahoma.

Wednesday evening, Nov 13th occurred the sudden passing of Nelson Miller, an old time resident of Fredonia township, Plymouth county, at the advanced age of eighty-one years. For forty years Mr. Miller had been an inmate of the hospital at Cherokee, ill with brain trouble caused by sun stroke while working in the harvest field, when comparatively a young man. The remains were brought to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hans Anderson, where the funeral services were conducted Saturday morning Nov. 15th at ten o'clock. He was laid to rest in the Le Mars cemetery by the side of his wife of his youth, who preceded him to the land beyond about four years ago. Besides an aged sister, he leaves four daughters and one son: Mrs. Nelson Hendrickson of Kildare, Oklahoma, Mrs. Hans Anderson of Carnes, Mrs. H.F. Bergner of Remsen, Miss Anna Miller of Cedar Falls, and Nelson Miller, a prominent lawyer and citizen of Le Mars.
