Ruby Barbee Morris, age 89, of Chadbourn went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice an Lifecare Center in Whiteville.
She was a native of Mecklenburg County and the daughter of the late Ernest Vivian and Ruby Britt Barbee. She was the widow of Lloyd Pittman Morris and was also preceded in death by five siblings, Rebekkah B.Watkins, Rachel B. Shingleton, Rita B. Tyler, Ernest V. Barbee, II and Ervin Barbee.
She moved to Chadbourn in 1952 to work along with her husband, Lloyd at the A&P Grocery Store until her retirement. She was a member of Chadbourn Baptist Church and a member of the Chadbourn Sorosis Club.
Final rites will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Chadbourn Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Danny Russell officiating. Interment will follow in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Judy Carol Morris of the home; a sister, Ruth B. Russell and her husband, Jimmy of Wilmington.
The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
