She was born on August 15, 1934 in Grainger County, TN, the daughter of Asa Lloyd McGinnis and Sally Kate Coffee McGinnis. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1953. Arial met her future husband, William Frederick Minor in high school, and they were married April 15, 1952. He preceded her in death in 2000.
Arial was a music loving person who played piano every night as her children fell asleep to her melodies. Her children are W. Michael Minor of Oak Ridge; Victoria Ann Minor Wallace and husband John Wallace and their son Matthew Wallace of Oak Ridge; Neil Frederick Minor and wife Stacey Minor and their children Nicholas, Nathan and Sydney. Arial also leaves behind her brother Ray McGinnis and wife Pat, and sister-in-law, Reba McGinnis. Her other brother Roger McGinnis preceded her in death in 2000.
Throughout the 70's and 80's, Arial worked at The Oak Ridger newspaper in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. After retiring, she spent much time enjoying life with friends. She will be well-remembered as an active and loving member of Robertsville Baptist Church where she was a featured soloist, pianist and faithful choir member. Arial seldom met a stranger, and had an energetic presence and spirit that was joyful and playful. She will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 5th, from 6-8PM at Weatherford Mortuary. A Memorial Service will follow at 8PM with Rev. Brian Scott and Dr. Michael Prince officiating. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Anderson Memorial Gardens at 2pm. The family asks that memorials be made in her memory to Robertsville Baptist Church, 251 Robertsville Rd, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
