One of eight children, she was born April 16, 1950 in Floyd County, Kentucky, the daughter of Ira Lee and Fannie Elizabeth Friend Jones. At the age of five, she moved to Connersville with her family and was a 1968 graduate of Connersville High School.
On May 8, 1990, she was married to Robert “Gene” Harvey of Connersville; Mr. Harvey died February 4, 2013.
For more than thirty years, she was employed with Visteon and its predecessors, retiring as an inspector in 2002.
She attended the Primitive Baptist Church; she was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the AMVETS Auxiliary and the Moose and Eagles Lodges.
She was an avid Elvis Presley and Beatles fan; she also loved to collect dolls and teddy bears and enjoyed dancing and spending time with her grandchildren – she relished the opportunities to travel with her husband “Gene” and together they attended many Bluegrass Festivals.
Survivors include three daughters, Holly LeGere Gettinger, Lisa Horning and her husband Joe and Gena Swiderek and her husband Travis, all of Connersville, five grandchildren, Fancee Congleton, Thomas Blake Gettinger, Holly Horning, Devin and Kendal Waddell and two great-grandchildren, Laney and Hank Smith, all of Connersville, three sisters, Roberta Doolin, Nella Cooper, and Mary Allard, all of Connersville, three brothers, Elder Paul Jones of Baltimore, Ohio and Arlee and Ellis Jones, both of Connersville, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her beloved husband of twenty-two years, “Gene” Harvey, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Elizabeth Jones Gibson, three brothers, Casey, Clayburn and Bernard Jones, and a nephew, Paul Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Elder Paul S. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home from 5 until 8 PM Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the Harvey Family Scholarship at the Park Place Church of God.
