Friends are invited to call from 5-7pm Sunday (Sept. 28) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday (Sept. 29) at the Barrington Community Church, Old Bath Rd. Dundee with Rev. Gerald Vanaman officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee.
Gladys was born March 10, 1934 in Auburn, NY, the daughter of the late Adolf and Agnes Nelson Engvall. She graduated from Port Byron Central School in 1952; and went on to graduate from Auburn Business School in 1953. On Aug. 27, 1955 in Port Byron, NY she married the late Paul C. Wheeler, who passed away on March 21, 2005. Gladys worked alongside her husband as his secretary, and treasurer of Sackett Oil, Inc., in Dundee. She was a member of the Barrington Community Church, and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star #86, in Weedsport, NY.
She is loved and will be missed by her 2 sons and daughter; a sister; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Mills of Stevensville, MD in July of 2014.
