Charles E. Wesner, 91, of Center Street, Milton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Evangelical Community Hospital.

Born in Gilberton on Aug. 31, 1923, he was the son of Walter T. and Thelma (Oakum) Wesner. He was married to the former Hope Black until her death in 1982.

Charles had served in the Army during World War II. He had worked for Kennedy Van Saun in Danville, and for the Danville and Riverside post offices.

He was a member of the American Legion in Mount Carmel. He was an avid fisherman and hunter; especially hunting with his bow. He enjoyed traveling and had visited 47 of the 50 states.

He is survived by a daughter, Lorraine Edris, of Leesport; a grandson, Gregory Edris, of Florida; two great-grandchildren: Tyler Edris and Brandon Edris; a brother, Lee Wesner, of Aristes; four sisters: Thelma Miller of Lancaster; Arlene Seedor of Shamokin; Shirley Klemas of Wilburton; and Tina Stankavage of Ringtown; his companion, of more than 30 years, JoAnn Griffin, of Milton; a stepson, Daniel Griffin, of Milton; a stepdaughter, Kelly Wilt, of North Carolina; and five stepgrandchildren: Kaley Griffin; Jenelle Griffin; Nicholas Wilt; Kaitlyn Wilt; and Zachary Wilt.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Walter T. Wesner, Robert Wesner, William Wesner, and Francis Wesner; and three sisters: Emma Mensch; Faye Romberger; and Eleanor White.

Friends and relatives will be received Friday, Oct. 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton. Officiating the 11 a.m. funeral service will be his son-in-law, Dwight Edris.
