Susan R. M Harrison was the daughter of Robert Harrison and Maria Hammett Harrison and married to John T. Cookus until he was killed in the Civil War. She married the Rev. J. L. Luttrell after John Cookus's death in the Civil War. Susan Harrison was the direct descendant of Governor John Hatch of Maryland, 1654. Her sisters were Malvina Harrison Cookus and Ellen Elizabeth Harrison Howard.
