Robert J. Wygand Sr., age 80 of Pedricktown died Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County.
Born in Penns Grove, son of the late William and Mabel (nee DuBois) Wygand, he had been a Carneys Point resident prior to moving to Pedricktown in 1989.
A US Navy veteran of WWII, Mr. Wygand had been employed as a pipe fitter at DuPont - Plant 1 in Carneys Point for over 25 years retiring in 1976.
He had been president of the union at Plant 1 for 20 years, had been a member of the DuPont Veterans Association and enjoyed gardening.
Mr. Wygand is survived by his wife, Jessie M. (nee Dutton), children, Robert, Jr. and his wife Diane of Quinton, Donna Ayars and her husband Norman of Pennsville, Judy Spinelli and her husband Edmund of Penns Grove, nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and William, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday in the ASHCRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 47 State St., Penns Grove where a viewing will be held from 1 to 2 PM.
Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Penns Grove.
