Reber was regarded as the radio's "first and probably greatest entrepreneur." Known for his sharp eye for talent, he helped bring many people to stardom including Bing Crosby, Rudy Vallee, Eddie Cantor, Edgar Bergen, George Burns and Gracie Allen.
Reber married Helen Hutchins in 1916 and they had two children, John and Ann. After Helen's death in 1945, Reber re-married Milena Miller at the Hollywood home of Edgar Bergen in 1948. Milena was a singer at Kraft Music Hall and was the 1943 Miss New York City. Milena and Reber had two children, Richard and Christopher. He died at his Sinking Springs, Pennsylvania home in July 1955. In 1958, Reber was posthumously inducted into the Broadcast Pioneer Hall of Fame.
