She was a farmwife, homemaker, and sales clerk, a member of the Methodist Church, Byers, and the Women’s Society of Christian Science. Sally was an avid gardener, spending many hours in her green house and garden. She was a 4-H Leader and was awarded the 4-H Service Award in 2000. She was also a member of the Pratt Garden Club, Kansas Orchid Society, and Hutchinson Iris Club. Sally was a Kansas State Extension Service Master Gardener.
In 1945, she married Oren Berry at Stafford, Kan. He preceded her in death in May 2007. Survivors include: her children, Jim Berry of Pratt, Kan., Judy Graven of Byers, Kan., Jeff Berry of Byers, Kan., Joe (Karen) Berry of Pratt, Kan., Jerry (Helen) Berry of Pratt, Kan., and Jan Berry of Pratt, Kan.; a sister, Alberta Lane of Marlow, Okla.; a brother, Delbert “Bill” (Joy) Reed of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Allen Berry; a daughter, Janelle Sue Berry; a sister, Joanne Eggelston; and two brothers, Warren Reed and Albert Leroy “Shorty” Reed.
Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at Sarah’s residence, two and a half miles south of Byers, Kan.
