Arthur Kent White (1889-1981) was the president of the Pillar of Fire Church in Zarephath, New Jersey. The church was started by his mother, Alma Bridwell White, in Denver, Colorado.

Birth:
Arthur White was born in Denver, Colorado on March 15, 1889 to Alma Bridwell (1862-1946) and Kent White (1860-1940). Arthur had a brother, Ray Bridwell White (c1888-1946).

Education:
Arthur attended Columbia University, and later Princeton University.

Marriage:
He married Kathleen Merrill (1889-1973) in 1914, and had the following children: Arlene White (1917- ) who married a Lawrence, and was a Bishop at Zarephath, New Jersey; Horace White (1920-?) who lived in California; Constance White (1924-?); and Pauline White (1927- ) who married Robert Barney Dallenbach (1927- ) and was a reverend in Denver.

Pillar of Fire:
Arthur was president of Alma White College from 192l to 1971. He became president of Belleview College and then director of the Alma Bible College in London. He also headed the Pillar of Fire missions in Liberia, and wrote seven books.

Death:
He died on September 16, 1981 in Zarephath.

Home News Tribune on September 16, 1981: "Weekend Service Planned For Bishop Arthur White. Franklin – A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday for Bishop Arthur K. White of the Pillar of Fire Church in Zarephath. He died Monday at his home on Weston Canal Road. The service will be at the Alma White College Chapel. Also planned are services and burial at Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, Colorado. Bishop White was named president and general superintendent of the church in 1946 and held the posts until 1978, when they were taken over by his daughter, Bishop Arlene White Lawrence. His first wife, Kathleen Staats White, was vice president and assistant superintendent until her death in 1973. The couple had traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, supervising the large holdings of the organization. Bishop White was a member of the American Guild of Organists, Columbia University Alumni Association, chaplain of the sons of the American Revolution, John Hart chapter of New Jersey and was a great-great-great grandson of John Hart, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, from New Jersey. He was the author of seven books. The most recent was 'Some More White Family History.' In the process of establishing colleges and schools, he applied himself to many aspects of building and construction. He was an electrician, cabinet maker, stone mason, building engineer and was active in music as pianist, organist, composer, educator and administrator. He was very active until he was injured in an auto accident in 1976. Prior to that he rode a bicycle a couple of miles each day and had participated in sports including tennis, hiking, swimming, skating, handball and baseball. In 1978, he relinquished some of his church responsibilities when his eldest daughter became president and general superintendent of the church. In the final years of his tenure, he was concerned with the corporate structure of the church organization and appointed to the board of trustees members whose leadership roles he felt would uphold the traditions and discipline of the church movement."
