Jerry's passing is hard and tragic

Jerry Lee Charles, age 43 of Galena, KS, passed away at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, MO, at 10:10 PM on October 6, 2014.

Jerry was born on August 31, 1971 to the union of James L. Charles and Sharon Louise (Cox) Charles. He had lived in the Galena area all of his life, graduated from Galena High School in the Class of 1991, and spent many years working at Tangled Roots Nursery and Landscaping before it closed. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, teaching his grandson football, and being surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Survivors include Daddy’s little girls, Amanda LeAnn Charles and Kendra Michelle Charles,; his companion, Ruby Lynn Charles; Ruby Lynn’s children: Sean Johnson and Carolina Johnson, one brother, Jim Charles; two sisters, Debra Charles-Radigan and Lisa Charles-LaTurner; one grandson, Kyle Lee Johnson; one granddaughter, Dakota Rae Belle Johnson, as well as numerous aunts, and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Jerry was taken for cremation under the care of Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. The family has planned a memorial visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 6-7:00 PM. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
