Thomas is the son of Christian Friederich Wagner and Susanna (Haefner) Wagner, Christian was christened at St.Mary's Lutheran Church, in Leipzig, Saxony, German Empire, in 1723. And migrated to Pennsylvania in 1743. Christian served as 3rd Lieutenant, in the 3rd Company,3rd Battalion,7th Pennsylvania Infantry, Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Thomas served as a Captain in the 3rd Company,3rd Battalion,5th Pennsylvania Cavalry,Continental Army during the American Revolution. His civilian occupation was farmer, and he temporarily returned to Pennsylvania to his parents farm to care for them in their old age.

Thomas was originally buried in Berks Co.,PA near Random Manor Township,(no longer exists), but the cemetery was removed when the government turned the area into a national park. Official records state that Thomas' body was relocated to Old St.Paul's Lutheran Church cemetery but they did not record the exact location, so no marker was ever placed. Thomas' parents bodies were removed to an unknown location. Maybe. Or they may still be buried somewhere in Valley Forge National Park.
Sources for Thomas and his father Christian: 2 letters from Christian to his attorney, 1 from his attorney, partial journal written for Thomas' daughter in law, (wife of Benjamin H.Wagner), and family Bible of Benjamin H.Wagner.
Christian came to America, purchased land, and built a cabin, barn, and corral, then returned to Germany on, "family business", Thomas was born there, then as soon as he was old enough to travel, was brought to America.
