He was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Hiteman, Iowa.
He retired in 1982 as an International Union Representative for the United Auto Workers. He began his long career in the union as a machinist for the John Deere Spreader Works in East Moline and was employed there for 22 years before becoming a UAW Representative in 1963. Bill also served as president of Local 79 in East Moline and vice president of the Quad-City Federation of Labor AFL-CIO.
He served in the Navy during WW II from 1941 to 1946.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty M. nee Cochran; loving father of Gary, Diane, and Karyn; dear grandfather of seven; and great-grandfather of two; fond brother of Talitha Johannsen, of Phoenix, Ariz., and the late Marshall and John J.; devoted son of the late John T. and Verna Mae Davidson; and dear uncle and cousin of many.
