Michele Ann Carter, 63, of Hamilton, NJ passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis in Trenton, NJ. Michele was a beautiful person in every essence of the meaning of the word Beautiful. She was like the flower bud who grows during the warmth of spring and matures through the summer turning into a red rose then passes on after the first frost or heavy freeze leaving behind a family from the roots she planted. She had a strong sense of virtues in her heart and soul. She was a unique person in her own right and carried this trait throughout her life. She came from a strong closely knit family. Her love and adoration for those close to her and those who came into her life stayed with her from childhood throughout her adult life. Her sense of pride and deep feeling of understanding drove her to make the best of all situations whether good or bad.

Born in Iselin, NJ, Michele was a long time resident of Hamilton, NJ. She received her Bachelors Degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology at the University of Minnesota and went on to earn her Masters in Speech Pathology & Audiology at Ohio State University. She went to work using her degree for a large school district in Ohio while her husband, William Carter, pursued his doctorate in veterinary medicine at Ohio State. She was 14 credits away from earning a PHD but choose to start her family. She and her husband moved back to NJ to purchase & operate Mercerville Animal Hospital. Her love of life was always blossoming into new endeavors. She became active in feline rescue and started a shelter for kittens, she was a foster mother to thousands. She gave names to all her kittens and spent countless hours bottle feeding them. For many years she concentrated on raising her three children, managing Mercerville Animal Hospital and Miry Run Dairy Farm in Oxford, NY.

Predeceased by father, Vincent Caravella; she survived by her mother, Madeline Caravella; her loving husband of 43 years, Dr. William J. Carter DVM; her children, Danielle Williams and her husband John Williams, Bill Carter DVM and his wife Katina Carter DVM, and Jeanine Carter. Her brother and sister-in-laws, Randy Carter, Patrick and Annette Carter, Joe and Sue Carter and Richard and Liz Caran; her two grandchildren (her pride and joy) Liam Williams and Alivia Carter; and a special cousin, Joy Ann Pinto-Leher.

Her unique personality enabled her to be a stay-at-home mom to her three children who were the loves of her life. She was a nurturing mother, and taught her children the values of life in their growing years. She had a knack for keeping them happy, busy and out of harm's way. Her boundless energy amazed all those who knew her. Michele worked long hours alongside her husband, giving him the support he needed to be successful. She was always so proud of him and his work ethic which encouraged him to excel. Liam and Alivia referred to her as Nanny, which fits her perfectly. They have become a large part of her life from babysitting, taking them to the park, shopping and you can't forget the trips to Disney World with William, her three children and spouses and grandkids.

Michele requested to be cremated with a private service. Family and close friends will have a private Celebration of Life at a later date. Michele will have a bench dedicated to her at the Grounds for Sculpture. Arrangements are under the direction of Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
