Funeral service for Carolyn Horton, 63, of Mt. Vernon, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Willis E. Taylor, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Daymon Nash, Cameron Fountain, Keiston Clayton, Cody Clayton, Tony Thomas, and Carl Thomas serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Elliot, AJ Bell, David Hall, LG Fountain, Daniel Elliot, and Nobel Dunlap. There will be no formal visitation. Carolyn passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX. She was born on April 7, 1951 in Hopkins County, the daughter of Carl Thomas, Sr. and Mary Jane Johnson Thomas. Carolyn was a true Christian receiving Christ at an early age. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and served God with the highest. She was a nice person and met no strangers. She married Charles Henry Horton on December 16, 1971 in Sulphur Springs, TX. He survives. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by daughter, Chelitta Roshell Thoms, brother, Carl Thomas, Jr., sisters, Gladys Thomas and Annie Smith of Sulphur Springs, Dollie Mae and Thomas Smith of Dallas, TX, and grandchildren, Britney Sharmane Turner and Mechele Roshell Turner.
