George F. Bentz, 57, of Natrona Heights, Harrison, died Tuesday (Jan. 15, 2002) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.

Born Jan. 12, 1945, in New Kensington, he was a lifelong resident of the Valley, having also lived in Tarentum and Arnold before moving to Harrison.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

A stator winder, he worked at the Westinghouse Electric Corp., Cheswick, for 34 years.

Mr. Bentz was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Natrona Heights.

An avid golfer, he was an assistant administrator for District 26, Little League Baseball; coached baseball and was a board member for Tarentum and Natrona Heights Little Leagues for 25 years; umpired WPIAL high school baseball and softball as a member of the Upper Northern Allegheny Umpires Association; and coached eighth- and ninth-grade football for three years in Highlands School District.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Constance "Connie" A. Hartzel Bentz; two sons, G. Craig Bentz of Coconut Creek, Fla. and Timothy M. Bentz, at home; a daughter, Marcie L. Bentz, also at home; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Josephine Magnet Bentz.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Worship Site, Natrona Heights. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
