Francis Robert Laux, 74, of Freeport, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia, in Cabot. Bob was born in Freeport Jan. 29, 1940. He was the son of the late Dorothy (Harmon) and Francis J. Laux. Bob was the loving husband of the late Rosemary E. (Kovach) Laux, who passed in 1982. He was a member of St. Mary Mother of God Church in Freeport and a lifetime resident of Freeport. Bob worked as a surveyor at Hutchinson Alex and Son Engineers, in Pittsburgh, for over 30 years. He also worked for a number of years at Martone Engineering, in Aspinwall. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Bob is survived by his son, Dan (Crystal) Laux, of Ford City; two daughters, Mary Jo (Jim) Monroe, of Baldwin, and Audra (Lenny) Rea, of Freeport; his daughter-in-law, Tammy Laux, of Freeport; grandchildren, Stacie (Michael) Schuler, Krista Monroe, Zachary Laux, Kara Rea, Tyler and Tristan Laux, Amanda (Jesse) Crooks, and Ashley, Lucas and Abbey Laux; doting great-grandaughter, Aiden Rea; brother, Jack (Mary Anne) Laux, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and sister, Carol (Samuel) McWherter, of Sierra Vista, Ariz. He is preceded in death by his son, Terrance J. "Terry" Laux, who passed in 2013. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 7, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. A parting prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary, Mother of God Church, Freeport, with Father Edward Volz officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Freeport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3500 Brooktree Road, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090.
