Benjamin Crandall, the oldest resident of Adams. Mass, died on June 28th, 1893, at the home of his son. His age was ninety-four years. Mr Crandall was born at Tiverton, R.I., from which place his family moved to Hoosick, N.Y., when he was three years old. During his youth Mr. Crandall learned the trade of wagon maker. He married Miss Amy Brayton, and moved to Adams in 1848.

In 1850 Mr Crandall moved to Cheshire, where he married in 1851, Miss Almeda Brayton, sister of his first wife. The next year the family again removed to Adams where they have resided ever since. With his brother-in-law, Daniel Brayton, Mr Crandall carried on the carriage business for a number of years. after the death of his second wife in 1875, he retired and took up residence with his son.

Mr. Crandall was a member of the Universalist Church, and attended services regularly, until he was stricken with the disease which ended his life.
