"Warfields of Maryland", by Joshua Dorsey Warfield, 1898, Pgs 36 & 37:
"Vachel, third son of Benjamin and Rebecca (Ridgely) Warfield married Sarah Dorsey of Capt. Philemon. They located near the old homestead of Capt. Philemon and inherited "Good Range" and "Partnership." Their son, Lloyd was a bachelor. Philemon Dorsey Warfield, next son, left "to his brother, Joshua, "Good Range," where I now reside." To my brother, Greenberry, "Exchange" and "Partnership." To my nephews, Vachel W. Linthicum and Llod W. Linthicum, "Partnership." To nieces, Sally Linthicum and Mary Linthicum, $400. each. To brother Allen, $200." The last mentioned brother alone m- and left Greenberry and Allen. Catherine Warfield of Vachel and Sarah (Dorsey) Warfield m- Lancelot Linthicum and left as above Vachel W. and Lloyd W. Linthicum, Sarah and Mary Linthicum. Mr. Lloyd W. Linthicum is still upon the original tract of Vachekl and Sarah (Dorsey) Warfield, whilst Mr. Gassaway Linthicum now holds the lands near Damascus, willed by Nicholas Ridgely Warfield to his nephew, Lloyd Warfield. Miss Eliza, daughter of Mr. Lancelot Linthicum by his Watkins wife, had stood within the old colonial home of Capt. Philemon Dorsey, after decay had rendered it no longer inhabitable. Its location was near the present post-office of Dayton. It was a large, square house, still bearing evidences of having been the home of comfort and hospitality.
"The "Captain of The Hundred," had passed on before. His wie and stately daughters, having left their impress upon hundreds of descendants, many, strangers to each other, had gone to their reward. As one of those descendants, let me add my wreath of imortelles.
"Sleep sweetly, tender hearts, in peace;
Sleep, holy spirits, blessed souls,
While the stars burn, the moon increase,
And the great ages onward roll.""
