∼Mrs. Amanda Cheryl Akins, 39, a resident of Troy, AL passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Troy Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM from Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rusty Tate and Rev. James Osteen officiating. She is survived by her daughter, Brianna Akins of Alabama; mother, Lucile P. Jones of Valley; sister, Alexis Jones; brother, Ryan Jones both of Valley; special friend, Danny Gorman of Troy, AL; aunts, Donna Faye Stimac of Illinois, Leighie Jones, Dianne Zackowski of Ohio, Nita (James) O'Steen of West Point, GA; and Mary (Jim) Bainbridge of Michigian; uncles, Rodney (Rhonda) Mitchum; Frankie (Rhonda) Mitchum both of Valley and Fuller (Jane) Mitchum of Opelika and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Frankie Jones. Mrs. Akins was raised in the Valley area and later moved to Troy, AL. She was a graduate of Valley High School. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Langdale United Methodist Church.
